Hey everyone, this "blog" is a way to link up with my youtube page, "Themakeupchair" Where I do videos on make-up, skin care and reviews!

Updated Skin Care Routine

So I was asked so many times to do an Updated Skin Care Routine video on my youtube channel. (http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMakeupChair)

Took a long time to get around to recording it but click here if you want to check it out – (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSMQRAQSKTo)

Otherwise keep reading to get an insight into my skin care routine and the products that I used that have helped clear up my break outs!

About my skin:

When I was a teen I never had break outs, I had the odd spot here and there but nothing crazy. In fact my skin was on the dryer side. I suffered more from dry skin flares ups then I did oily break outs.

Click here to see my top tips on dry skin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-khL4aZXzk)

However the older I got the worse my skin seemed to get. I was covered in spots, blemishes, pimples!!! Seemed like one would clear up and another two would replace it! I tried every thing - All the odd home recipes, the kitty litter mask, lemon and sugar treatment, and special skin treatment I got my brother to send from American but NOTHING WORKED!

Finally I stopped with all the quick fixes and stopped with all the odd treatment and just used the same products every night and every morning and my skin is getting better and better!

Right now I have clear skin and it has been clear for months now. I never though I would have clear skin again.

The products I used might not work for you, but finding the right skin care routine will. You can follow my routine but change the products to suit your skin type!

Cleanser - Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash

I use this at night to remove my make-up (one pump) and to also clean my skin (second pump). I don’t use this every morning as I don’t want to over wash my skin. Even though I used to take my make-up off at night I didn’t clean my skin too. So now I not only remove my make-up but I wash my face afterwards. I can’t stress enough how important it is to remove your make-up at night Just by doing that you will notice a difference!

Scrub - Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub

I use this once a week or twice if I notice a huge problem. Mostly once does the trick and I will stick to that. Exfoliating is great and feels great too but you have to be careful not to over do it. Especially if you have spots, if you keep disturbing the healing of the spots they will last longer!

Toner - Witch Hazel and Rose Water

This is my favourite part of my routine! I use my toner once in the morning instead of cleansing my skin and once at night after cleansing and I love this stuff! If you are looking for a good toner try looking in the health care and vitamin section of the pharmacy. Witch Hazel and Rose Water are natural extracts that not only remove any oils or dirt felt after cleansing the skin, but it leaves it super smooth and soft too!

Moisturiser - Nivea Soft Moisturiser

This is my favourite ever moisturiser I have tried. I love this more then any other product - high end or low this is the best! I highly recommend this! Seriously!!

That’s it! Stay tuned for more updates on spot treatments and skin solutions.

How to Neutralize the Embarrassment of Blushing/High Colouring!
Embarrassed by your blushing, not any more! The link above is to my videos on My top tips on choosing the right make-up to prevent high colouring!
I have suffered from high colouring and “blushing” my whole life! It can really prevent you from getting out there and being confidant, it really holds you back. You can wear all the make-up you want, just have to pick the right shades.
Tips:
Primers can reduce the amount “melting” of foundation.
Instead of picking typical pink shades of blush, use peach and apricot shades.
Use Matte powder and blushes as this will reduce the appearance of red hot cheeks.
Yellow tone foundation, concealer and bases can be use to reduce the appearance of blushing and redness.
Avoid choosing colours that you naturally flush too, including lip stick shades

I used:
Elf Primer
Elf Tinted Moisturizer – porcelain
Bourjois healthy mix foundation – 51
Rimmel Matte powder – Transparent (even though it’s called Transparent is yellow toned)
W7 Buff Blush (any apricot or peach blush)
Rimmel 22 sun bronzer (its light and matte)
ELF spice lip liner
Collection 2000 lip gloss

How to Add Volume to Flat, Thin Hair (My Favourite Products)

The above link is from my latest video on how I add volume to my typically flat lifeless hair thin hair! Theses are the products I have been following lately to get my hair to look fuller. Usually my hair is flat to my head and horrible so I use the product listed below to add life back to my hair and these really work!
(All these products are for use on wet/damp hair and shouldn’t be used on dry as it will not give the desired effect.)
I use:
Tresemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo And Conditioner
- once a day usually but I change the conditioner every other wash.

TRESemme 24 Hour Body Blow Dry Lotion – Heat Defense
- Some thing I started to use more recently because my hair is getting longer I need more protection so I use this after I wash it.

TRESemme 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray
- Only use this on my roots and it really works to add volume!

TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray
- I used to use this before I found the 24 hour body one.

I also some times use John Frieda Frieda Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight spray if my hair need to be softened or looks unhealthy!

How To Measure Your Face (For Your Face Shape)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI3NZMhbQSY
Split the face into THREE parts,
1. Forehead to Brows
2. Brow to Nose
3. Nose to Chin
If your face is in three equal parts, your face is balances.
If two are equal but the Forehead is longer, contour for a balanced face.
If two are equal but the Jaw is longer, contour jawline for a balanced appearance.

Once you have measured your face match it up below…
Oval
Face balanced in three equal parts
Forehead is wider than the chin
Prominent cheekbones
Face gracefully tapers to a narrow oval chin

Round
Length of face can be balanced
Face has a fuller appearance
Face is almost has the same length as width
Face is widest at the cheeks

Long
Length of face can be balanced
Face has an elongated/long appearance
Forehead, cheekbones and jawline are all about the same width
Can tend to have a prominent chin

Square
Forehead can be longer in length
Forehead, cheekbones and jawline all about the same width
Squared jawline is the most obvious feature

Heart
Forehead higher, jaw and cheek bone balanced in length
Similar to oval but the chin tapers to a point

Diamond
Not as common as the other face shapes
Typically the face is highly angular
The forehead is somewhat short
The face is widest at the temples

The Body Shop Lip Scuff Review

Lip Scuff - The Body Shops answer to a lip scrub.

What can I say about this? It’s different. When I was shown this lip scrub I was a bit surprised that it was in a lipstick form also that is was around €12.95 for only 0.14 oz.

Best if you want: Say goodbye to dry, chapped lips and prep your pucker for lipstick by removing dead skin cells.

I do agree here, its easy to use before you apply your lipstick, only takes a second and your lips are prepped!

Best for: All skin types, but especially dry, chapped lips.

Yep,  Even on sensitive skin this shouldn’t be harsh.

What it is designed to do:

Crushed fig stone granules help to gently remove dead skin cells. Macadamia nut oil moisturizes while peppermint oil provides a naturally refreshing menthol scent. Moisturizing Community Trade marula oil from Namibia leaves lips soft and supple.  Organic Community Trade beeswax from Zambia moisturizes and conditions skin.

The figs aren’t nice when they get caught in your teeth, it does smell yummy though but I have to say it only good for prepping the lips on the go.  I don’t think it will be replacing good old honey, oil and sugar home made lip scrub that really gets rid of dead cells!

How to use it: To keep your lips kissably soft, apply Lip Scruff and rub lips together before removing residue with a tissue.

No need to wash off, just remove all the granules.

Long Lasting Make-up: Eye Liner

So I get so many questions about getting your eye liner to last long especially when it’s on the waterliner (Rim of the eye)
How to get your eye liner to last all day, easy steps to follow to get long lasting eyeliner!! • Apply your pencil/Gel/liquid eyeliner. • Take an eye shadow of the same shade or similar. • Apply with a small brush over the top of the liner and it should last for 24 hours!
If you don’t have an eyeliner use a damp brush to apply the shadow and you’ve got eyeliner!
